About this site
Hep-C Alert is an independent reference on hepatitis C. It exists because most of what is written about this virus is either alarming or trying to reach the reader for some other reason, and because someone who has just heard the words deserves a plain explanation before anything else.
What it does
It explains, in general terms, what the infection is, how it actually passes between people, what screening involves, what changed about treatment, and what living with the diagnosis ordinarily looks like. It is written to be read calmly, front to back or a section at a time.
What it does not do
It carries no statistics, names no medicines, quotes no success rates and gives no advice. Those are all real things with real answers — but the answers change, they depend on circumstances, and they belong either to the bodies that keep them current or to the clinician sitting opposite you.
Where figures matter, this site links to the World Health Organization and the CDC rather than restating them.
